Reclaiming the materials
ALL of our materials are reclaimed from SOMEWHERE, but first let me clarify that we do NOT scour the country side looking for or asking for these materials. We are not about taking the beauty away from anyone! We are contacted by various "entities" and that is how the process begins. It could be just an 18-wheeler truckload of Hand Hewn beams and the ever popular WEATHERED GREY BARNWOOD from a simple homestead barn in Ohio, river logs sunken at the bottom of a river where sawmills would pop up along the river banks, the complete cabin that Abraham Lincoln paused at in Maryland during the Battle of Antietam or larger demo companies carefully removing the first Zenith and Helene Curtis factories in Chicago, IL!! From a crew of approx 2-6 tearing down the small homestead barn in your backyard all the way up to skyscrapers in the "big city" with demolition companies employing 600+ we reclaim and recycle it all because ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH!

We offer a wide variety of materials and species, some we are able to offer to customers at all times, some could be only available for a short time or until sold out. We sell the materials AS IS and we also offer a few types of "finishing" here, such as Sandblasting, Planing smooth, walnut hull blasting, sawn to size, grinding and waxing with Briwax (interior) or Waterlox (exterior) protectant/sealer. Our materials are protected from the past and prepared for the future by either the kiln or the use of Boracare. The kiln involves heat treating the reclaimed wood to make sure that there are no bugs or larvae in any of the wood. This heat treating process is a safe and healthier alternative to harsh chemical fumigation processes that can infuse into the wood. The entire process is controlled for the best results without sacrificing the quality of the reclaimed wood. Bora-Care continues to be the prime choice for those looking to protect our surroundings. Unlike soil treatments, Bora-Care is not a threat to the plant life or water supply of a home. With its mineral salt, borate-based formula, Bora-Care is made with natural elements that are already present in the ecosystems outside our homes. IF WE DON'T HAVE THE SPECIES YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, WE WILL TRY TO HELP YOU FIND IT!
Reclaimed antique walnut shows up in barn beams and barn joists mostly, minimum nail stains, sound knots. Can range from select grade having the perfect coffee color to purple hues with vanilla colored sapwood. Walnut is becoming a delightful rare find now-a-days.
Chestnut is probably the most "historic" wood available. Its caramelized glow color blends well together with no distinct variation in color. Mostly reclaimed from barns, corn cribs, old mills, mostly agricultural structures will have random knots, nail stains, and as always very random worm holes!
The "pecky" comes from a fungus only found in older cypress trees. Its a decay resistant wood becoming harder to find like this. It has a "manilla" coloring and may have a "sour" kind of smell while working with materials.
Mostly found in reclaimed beams of various structures. Uniform in cool to warm brown shades with minimum nail stains and worm holes. The flexibility of the black ash makes it a more popular flooring choice for radiant heat installations.
This is the most insect and rot resistant wood. Mild variation in the grain pattern with great consistency in color. It "flows" well together and its surroundings!
These were once Kentucky fenceboards. The oak is almost always a high grade and makes a great flooring choice.
Reclaimed from old forest floors being found more and more as our world expands and grows. Some of these trees felled are over 6' tall! So yes, we are able to get high grade beautiful wide plank flooring out of this material. Uniform in color, not much variation, blends well and takes stain evenly. Minimum bug runs and no nail stains, very little distressing as opposed to the popular antique oak
Reclaimed hickory comes mostly from various beams and some times barn boards. Lots of beautiful color variation, a very busy unique looking floor. Colors range from light manilla, many darker brown hues and some almost black coloring around knots. Almost no distressing and nail holes but plenty of color character.
Sometimes we leave the paint on the materials , these are very popular around waterfront properties esp coastal regions. The white boards really brighten up any room!
