DOUGLAS FIR

Reclaimed from buildings, tressels and other structures,
this wood is generally found in the northwest and midwest.
Due to the vast fir forests cut in the 1800's and early 1900's
we find this wood in good quantity and in larger timbers.
Used for beamwork and for fine furniture, flooring,
and cabinetry. Somewhat susceptible to dinging and
marring. Moderately resistant to decay.
ANTIQUE PINES
"Northern White and Red Pine"
These woods are primarily acquired from old
commercial buildings and warehouses in the northeast.
Good size timbers and resawn plank are available.
Although softer than heart pine, it is also used as
flooring material. It is lightweight and is perfect for
decorative ceilings, wainscot and mouldings.
ANTIQUE OAKS
"Antique Oak"
Primarily acquired from the midwest regions. Reclaimed
from barns and some industrial buidings. The finished
flooring, which we keep in inventory, is usually a mix of
red and white oak, but we can provide all red or all
white oak floors at our customers' request.
BARN WOODS
"Barnwood & Hand Hewn Timbers"
This wood is available from time to time and usually
comes in 1" thick material. Widths range from 8" to 16".
Wood types are ponderosa pine, southern yellow pine,
fir, and oak. These weathered boards are just right
for rustic interiors, furniture and sidings.
Beams were hand-hewn with broad axe or adze.
Generally 100+ years old.
CYPRESS
Tidewater Red -
Ten to twenty growth rings per inch.
Some materials recovered from rivers in the southeast.
Originally cut in the mid to late 1800's.
Pastel yellow, reddish orange, patina, very tight grain.
Decay resistant, insect resistant.
Works for most any application.
WORMY WOODS
"Wormy Chestnut and Oak"
Reclaimed mostly from old barns and similar structures.
This is a rare wood with noted character.
Wormy oak and chestnut make a
wonderful distressed flooring due to a
fair amount of surface checking and worm runs.
Also available in beamwork and rough sawn material.
ANTIQUE & RECLAIMED TIMBERS
All of our timbers are reclaimed from old barns,
commercial buildings, and various century old
warehouses, some of our wood and timbers even come
from the holds of sunken ships! Benefits of the
Hand Hewn Timbers include:
STRENGTH - The strength in oversized timbers makes
your creation stronger and long-lasting. Some timber
frame structures in Europe and Japan are over
1,000 years old!
FRAMING - Allows for openness and large expansions
There is little or no movement/shrinking after building.
OTHER WOODS
CEDAR, BLACK WALNUT, BLACK ASH, ETC.
